Building Customer Trust as a New Nigerian Online Store

StoreVase

Nigerian shoppers are cautious online for good reason. Trust is not a nice-to-have here; it is the whole conversion problem.

What genuinely reassures people

  • Your own domain. A real address signals a real business.
  • Your own photographs. Stock images of products you do not have are spotted instantly.
  • A phone number that is answered. Most people never call. They need to see they could.
  • Reviews, including imperfect ones. All-five-star pages read as fake.
  • A plain returns policy. Even a strict one beats none.

Payment on delivery

Offering it costs you some failed deliveries and wins you customers who would never have paid upfront. Many shops offer it early and phase it out as reviews accumulate.

Be visibly responsive

A reply within the hour does more for conversion than any redesign. Slow replies read as "nobody is there".

Let customers speak for you

A photo from a real buyer outperforms anything you write about yourself. Ask for it — most people are happy to.
