Dropshipping in Nigeria: Does It Actually Work?
StoreVase

Dropshipping is sold as a business with no inventory and no risk. In Nigeria specifically, the reality is more complicated.
Where it struggles here
- Delivery times. International shipping can take weeks. Nigerian customers reasonably expect days.
- Returns. When something arrives wrong, you are the one refunding — often before the supplier refunds you.
- Quality you have never seen. You find out it is poor at the same moment your customer does.
- Customs. An unexpected charge at delivery ends the sale and the relationship.
Where it does work
Local dropshipping — a Nigerian supplier who ships for you. Days instead of weeks, no customs, and a supplier you can actually call.
The middle path most successful sellers take
Hold small quantities of a few products you have handled yourself. You control quality and delivery, and the capital at risk stays manageable.
Whichever model you choose, the deciding factor is the same: can you get the product to a Nigerian customer quickly enough that they order from you again. Test that with a handful of items before you build a business on it.
