How to Start an Online Store in Nigeria (2026 Step-by-Step Guide)

Selling online in Nigeria used to mean a developer, a hosting bill and weeks of waiting. It does not any more. This guide takes you from nothing to a working shop that can take payment.
What you actually need before you start
Less than most people think:
- Products you can photograph — a phone camera is fine.
- A bank account for receiving money.
- A way to deliver, even if that is a dispatch rider you already use.
You do not need a registered business to begin, a logo, or a large budget.
Step 1: Open your store
Sign up, choose a template and your shop exists at yourname.storevase.com. Your first month is free and no card is required, so you can see the whole thing working before spending anything.
Step 2: Add your first products
Photograph the item, upload it, and let the AI assistant write the description. Give it a few words — "Ankara tote bag, handmade, fits a 14 inch laptop" — and it produces copy that sells rather than a spec sheet. It can also remove the background from a photo taken on your kitchen table.
Step 3: Set up payment
Connect your own Paystack or Flutterwave account and customers pay you directly. The money never passes through us and there is no commission on your sales.
Step 4: Get your first order
Share your store link everywhere you already are — WhatsApp status, Instagram bio, your customer group. Most first orders come from people who already know you.
What it costs
Your first month is free. After that it is a flat ₦2,000 a month, whichever template you use, with unlimited products and orders. Premium templates are optional and bought separately.
None of this requires capital you do not already have tied up in stock. The step most people never take is the first one: putting five products somewhere a customer can pay for them.
